| 24-25 | Excellent voice quality, animation, and contact with audience. Excellent pacing and easy to understand. Use of notes, but no word-for-word reading directly from notes. Able to hold audience's attention. Excellent handling of questions. |
| 22-23 | Strong voice quality and easy to understand. Good pacing. Some contact with audience and some animation. Minor reading word-for-word from notes. Average handling of questions. |
| 20-21 | Decent voice quality and understandability. Little contact with audience and speech variation. Obvious reading word-for-word from notes. |
| 18-19 | Acceptable volume, but very fast or very slow. Ended very early or interrupted far in advance of planned finish. No contact with audience. |
| 17 and below | Difficult to hear or understand. Audience very distracted. |
| Note: The use of note cards is encouraged. What is penalized is obvious word-for-word reading of complete sentences directly from the notes. This is presentation, not a prepared speech. | |
