This is a collective bargaining simulation created by John W. Budd for use in labor relations courses. The collective bargaining agreement (contract, for short) between The Zinnia, a 300-room hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Local H-56 of the International Union of Service Workers and Allied Employees expires on April 30, 2000. Additional information can be found on The Zinnia's Web site and on Local H-56's Web site.
Simulation participants should act as if they are in Spring 2000 approaching the April 30, 2000 expiration of the contract. The bargaining environment at that time was different from today's. Similarities and differences between these environments and their implications for the simulation and collective bargaining should be explored in the post-negotiation debriefing.
